Virtual Reality Crusaders: EA And More Unite To Maintain VR Standards

With virtual reality and augmented reality equipment receiving the attention it deserves in the world of gaming, it is no surprise that the forces that be have united under one banner to keep the development on the straight and narrow.

A group dedicated to the betterment of these new technologies already existed as The 3D Stereoscopic Alliance and has been running since 2009, but advancements have called for a rebranding. Apparently The Galactic Virtual Reality Senate was taken, so instead they have opted for The Immersive Technology Alliance.

They’ve missed a trick, if you ask me.

Companies such as Oculus, Electronic Arts, Technical Illusions, The University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Panasonic and many more have come together to “foster a vibrant and diverse industry that content makers can support on a wide scale.”

The future of VR gaming.
The future of VR gaming.

“In this rapidly expanding industry of augmented and virtual reality displays, and other immersive technologies, great communication and collaboration among technology leaders is valuable,” says President and Co-Founder of Technical Illusions Jeri Ellsworth.

“We’re proud to participate in The ITA as a founding member, and contribute our thought leadership to the group.”

With such a titanic task ahead of them, it is unclear whether The ITA will be taking breaks from bringing balance to the force and defending the universe in order to further their goals. One can only hope they have the wherewithal to manage.
